Marbella has long been an A-list hotspot on Spain’s southern coastline and is an all-year-round hub of activity, packed with glitzy hotels, bars and restaurants. Although the coast of the Malaga region is fairly built-up, it still has some lovely sandy beaches, and you only have to go a few miles inland to find beautiful unspoilt countryside offering something for everyone on a luxury villa holiday in Marbella.
Staying in a luxury villa in Marbella puts you in the heart of the action. Whether you fancy taking in the sleepy white cube houses in the surrounding hilltop villages, sunbathing on the golden sandy beaches or admiring the super yachts in Puerto Banus, it is all on your doorstep.
A must on a luxury holiday here in the summer is the chiringuitos, which sell seafood fresh off the boats. Eat in the Old Town in the evenings where rustic tapas bars sit alongside Michelin-starred restaurants on a luxury villa holiday in Marbella.
The marina and beach at Puerto Banus is the best place for people-watching and glamorous boutiques. For a more peaceful experience, settle down at Estrella del Mar beach, to the east of Marbella, or check out the super yachts in the marina. There is so much to do in the area that you are bound to find entertainment for all ages and interests.
There are world-class golf courses nearby, and tennis and horse riding are also very popular. In winter you can even ski in the Sierra Nevada mountains. For a change of scenery from your luxury villa, you can head out to the ancient hill town of Ronda where the attractions include a 14th-century Arabic bathhouse.
For family days out, try the Fuengirola Biopark and the Tivoli World theme park. Pleasure boat trips are always fun, and you can also take a day trip from Marbella to the Rock of Gibraltar on a luxury holiday here.
Although Marbella is always lively, many bars and restaurants close for the winter, and the main season stretches from May to September. The climate is mild, with temperatures ranging between around 17°C in winter from December to February, and around 26°C in summer from June to September, with plenty of sunshine and little rain.
We love the urban cool and glamour of Marbella – the perfect combination of sun, sea and sophistication. It has something for everyone, from romantic couples to party-loving friends and sun-loving families alike.
The airport of Malaga is about a 1-hour drive from Marbella.
The choice of great restaurants and lively nightlife in Marbella and the surrounding area is tremendous. Everything from laid-back beach bars to glamorous five-star restaurants can be found within striking distance of your luxury villa.
Head to the Old Town district of Marbella to find the best atmospheric tapas bars and excellent restaurants such as Zozoi and Buenaventura – both serving Mediterranean cuisine. If you want Michelin stars, you can try internationally influenced dishes at Messina, the elegant formality of El Lago or for the only restaurant to be awarded 2 Michelin stars in Marbella, try Skina for the best quality Andalusian cuisine in the area.
Marbella is renowned for its sophisticated and fashionable beach bars, and this is where beautiful people hang out both day and night. Try Nikki Beach at Elviria, Ocean Club at Puerto Banus and Sonora Beach where you might catch live music for an evening away from the peace of your luxury villa.
