Savoyard culture meets Scandi style in this luxury ski chalet in Megeve. Chalet Taiga, Megeve, is a beautifully designed property where simple, pared-back style allows the natural beauty and wonderful location of the building shine through.
Awesome mountain views, peeking through almost every window, make this a really special chalet. There’s no need for art when each window view is a masterpiece itself. The architects have really made the most of Taiga’s outlook. Huge, floor-to-ceiling windows allow light to flood into the double-height living spaces and vaulted ceilings give the rooms a sense of drama.
The main living space, up a flight of stairs as you walk through the entrance, offers two separate seating areas; one a sunken space, around the wood-burning fireplace, and the other with lots of sofas and armchairs to relax in with a book. The contemporary dining table is surrounded by 10 wishbone-style chairs and a couple of stools for extra guests.
With both a luxe cinema room and a TV snug, there’s always somewhere to catch up on your favourite programmes, watch a film, or simply curl up with a book. The TV snug on the mezzanine level has its own fireplace to up the cosy factor to eleven.
After a day out on the mountain, wander through the garden to the ‘mazot’, surrounded by trees and hiding the traditional sauna and relaxing open-air terrace. There’s also an indoor Jacuzzi on the lower ground floor, next door to the cinema room, so you can catch a movie, soothe aching legs in the Jacuzzi, before heading back upstairs for canapés on the balcony.
Each of the five individually designed bedrooms, decked out in calming neutral shades, natural cottons and rich woods is a homage to comfort, with Scandi style decor and luxe en-suites. You’re guaranteed a good night’s sleep here.
But before you do, we recommend you head out onto the beautiful wrap-around balconies to breath in the night air, appreciate the mountain by night and maybe sit around the outdoor fire pit, wrapped in blankets and toasting marshmallows. This is a property where the simple things are properly appreciated.
Location
Set in a quiet area between Megeve and Praz Sur Arly, Chalet Taiga is still less than 10 minute drive from town centre and nearest ski lifts. The property has outstanding mountain views, too. There is parking for four cars and transfers can be arranged on request.
The nearest airport is Geneva, around an hour away by car.

Catering
Chalet Taiga is a luxury self-catered chalet in Megeve that is beautifully set up for groups preferring the freedom of catering for themselves. A pre-arrival shop can be arranged for you if you wish, so you can arrive to a fully stocked fridge.
The chalet has a wonderful, contemporary kitchen, which is fully equipped for your use, whether you’re creating Savoyard specialities or simple comfort food. Adjacent is a sunken seating area and fireplace, where you’ll gather in the evenings with a glass of wine, making the kitchen a very sociable space in which to cook.
The dining space is located in the light-filled main living area and seats up to 12 people for sit-down meals together. There’s also a barbecue outside for relaxed dining.
On nights you wish to eat out, Megeve has a plethora of fabulous restaurants to try and the chalet’s concierge will be only too pleased to assist with booking tables for you.

Kids
This family friendly chalet can be provided with cot and high chair for those travelling with very young children, and every care has been taken to ensure little ones feel at home.
On the ground floor is a large bunk room sleeping two, which kids can make their space for the week.
On snowy afternoons after ski school, children might like to cosy up with popcorn in the cinema room or simply snuggle with books in front of some cartoons in the TV snug. And no child is too old to enjoy toasting marshmallows outside on the fire pit.
