At this unique mountain hideaway, you’ll feel like you’ve been let in on a best-kept secret. La Ferme du Lac Vert began life as a 19th-century Savoyard farmhouse. Once derelict, it has been delicately restored to its former glory by the owners, and today it’s everything and more that a luxury ski chalet should be.
Nestled in a charming Montriond village on the outskirts of Morzine, La Ferme du Lac Vert is packed with character; guests can expect to find exposed stone walls, wooden beams, shuttered windows, winding staircases and roaring fires alongside a stylish chalet-chic décor. Outstandingly warm hospitality and five-star dining come as standard – the team here regularly caters for special events and weddings, so nothing is too much trouble.
Stand-out features include a barrel sauna, a hot tub for soothing aching limbs and gazing out over snowy scenes, and a spacious open-plan living area complete with a banquet-style dining table and snug sofas.
The chalet’s 12 bedrooms have a vintage-with-a-twist décor, and all have a sleek ensuite bathroom. Each bedroom is individual in size and style; some feature balconies with mountain views or garden access, while others come with slipper baths or four-poster beds. There’s a mix of doubles, triples and family rooms. Next door, sister chalet La Petit Ferme offers a further three bedrooms – perfect for multi-generational or large group luxury ski holidays.
La Ferme du Lac Vert is located in the traditional village of Montriond on the outskirts of world-class Morzine.
It’s a 5min drive to the Ardent, 6 mins to the Super Morzine or 8mins to the Pleney ski lifts, where guests can access the sprawling Portes du Soleil ski area.
The journey from Geneva airport is approximately 1 hour 15 minutes.

La Ferme du Lac Vert is a catered ski chalet and the culinary experience here is exceptional.
Start the day with your choice of breakfast – fluffy, syrupy pancakes; Eggs Benedict cooked to perfection; or a full English ahead of an action-packed day on the slopes – all washed down with mugs of strong freshly ground coffee or herbal tea. Cooked options are offered on five mornings.
When you return from the slopes, a lavish afternoon tea of baked treats and fresh fruit awaits.
The evening experience begins with a glass of wine and creative canapés – examples include melt-in-the-mouth tuna tartare and gooey morsels of baked Mont d’Or – before a three-course affair featuring the likes of seared scallops, saddle of venison and fig and frangipane tart. Red, white and rosé house wines have been hand-selected to accompany dinner, and a local selection of cheeses from the cheese trolley rounds off your meal.
You’ll have two evenings a week to sample the local restaurants of Morzine and your chalet hosts will be more than happy to make recommendations and bookings.
