Villa Le Macine is a one-of-a-kind Tuscan retreat oozing charm and character. There’s history here in spades – the property was once a mill and thanks to its meticulous restoration you’ll still find historic mill stones and a fourth-century kitchen incorporated into the modern-day design.
The accommodation comprises a delightful stone building and two barn annexes, creating the ideal setup for a luxury holiday in Tuscany with family or a group of friends. In the main villa, your eyes will be drawn to the elegant decor and exposed beams featured throughout the light and airy lounge, grand dining room and modern kitchen. Spacious bedroom suites have natural tones to encourage complete relaxation – for a unique space to sleep, lay your head in Le Macine suite, carved entirely out of the mill’s old manger.
Outdoors, the large gardens provide all the privacy you could wish for from a luxury villa in Tuscany, inviting you to stay outside for hours on end. By day, splash around in the swimming pool, find a shaded spot in a secret seating nook or enjoy games of hide and seek. Come the evening, gather everyone to create their favourite pizzas in the pizza ovens and watch the sun go down with a glass of local wine in hand.
Location
Villa Le Macine is located in Barberino Val d’Elsa, in the heart of the Chianti region in Tuscany. It sits in a peaceful and private spot, accessed down a half-mile unpaved road, and comes with private river access.
Siena can be reached in a 30-minute drive, while Florence – where you’ll find the closest airport – is around 40 minutes away. There’s also a heliport just a 10-minute drive away.

Excellent food and drink is an integral part of life in Chianti, and Villa Le Macine makes it easy to enjoy the good life. The surrounding area is rich in local produce, and there’s no better way to eat than by picking up delicious fresh goods at a nearby farmers’ market and enjoying mouth-watering family feasts back in the privacy of your villa.
Indoors, the well-equipped kitchen features all modern-day extras including a coffee machine and juicer. Outside, the brick pizza ovens and spacious dining areas invite you to soak up the sun long into the evening.
To ease you into your stay at this luxury villa, a pre-arrival grocery delivery service is included (excluding the cost of food). A private chef can also be arranged at an additional cost.
